Winter Lights' Festival, Seneca State Park, Gaithersburg, Maryland -11950 Clopper Road

Open November 23 through December 30, 2007.
$10 per car Sunday-Thursday 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. $12 per car Friday and Saturday 6 p.m. - 10 p.m.
Drive-thru a 3.5 miles drive featuring more than 3380 illuminated displays and 60 animated vignettes. Open Air Trolley Rides will be held on Mondays, Dec. 3 and Dec. 10 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at a cost of $5 per person. Seating is limited and available on a first come, first served basis.
Directions: From Washington, Virginia and other points south - I-270 North toward Frederick. Take Exit #10, Clopper Rd. (MD Route #117 West). Continue through five stop lights (approx. 2 miles). Seneca Creek State Park is on the left.


 

 

Winterfest of Lights, Ocean City, Maryland - Northside Park, 127th Street & the bay 

November 15, 2007 - January 1, 2008
Sunday - Thursday 5:30 pm - 9:30 pm Friday - Saturday 5:30 pm - 10:30 pm
Ride the "Winterfest Express" through a mile of giant animated displays, with crabs and marlins surfacing among the Santas and toy soldiers.  Admission is $4.00 for 12 years & older, and FREE for all others.
Enjoy the Winterfest Village, which is located inside a festive, heated tent decorated for the season. Live entertainment is scheduled on selected nights. Drive the "Avenue of Trees" on Baltimore Avenue from 15th – 32nd Street. Also, visit the drive-thru Tunnel of Lights at the Inlet Lot to enjoy the beach filled with magical lights boasting a nautical theme. 410-250-0125

Winter Festival of Lights is Prince George’s County, Maryland’s spectacular drive-through Christmas light display featuring more than a million twinkling lights.

 



Lights on the Bay, Sandy Point State Park, Annapolis, Maryland - Exit 32 off U.S. 50

Drive-thru animated light displays with an Eastern shore flavor. A scenic drive along the shore of the Chesapeake Bay with more than 60 spectacular animated and stationary displays. $2 discount coupons available from area businesses and publications, Good Monday-Thursday, except holidays. Christmas Pageant of Peace on the Ellipse (south of the White House), Washington, DC.
FREE...The National Christmas Tree and trees representing each state and territory, as well as model trains, will be on display through January 1, display from dusk to 11 p.m. daily, on the Ellipse (south of the White House).

The Miracle on 34th Street, Hampden neighborhood, Baltimore, Maryland

You stroll down Chestnut Avenue, and take a left on 34th Street, and suddenly evening turns to almost day. The houses are lit, and the street is bustling with people. Maybe it's tacky, but you have to admire the spirit of the folks on 34th Street, who have been doing this for years. Everyone should see this at least once. Favorites include the Christmas tree made of hubcaps, and the sleigh pulled by eight crabs, all carrying tins of Old Bay.
Oh, did I mention, all the homes are townhomes?...

Oglebay Winter Festival of Lights in Wheeling, West Virginia

November 8, 2007 - January 6, 2008, dusk to 11:00 p.m. nightly, One time $10 donation valid for the entire festival season.
Recommended by one of the list display owners, the Oglebay Resort and Wheeling Park Commission put on one of the largest holiday light displays in the country in Wheeling, West Virginia. Begun in 1985, it has grown into the nation's largest holiday light show, attracting more than a million visitors per year, including 3,000 tour buses from more than 36 states. The show has even been given the distinction of being listed in the American Bus Association's Top 100 International Events. Show covers more than 300 acres over a 6 mile drive throughout the Oglebay resort. More than 70 displays and over one million lights spread over 300 acres are featured in this celebration.
